We also have five spiritual senses that correlate to our physical senses, which allow us to detect and perceive spiritual things. For the purpose of enhancing and expanding our spirituality, I would like to share some fundamental principles about the five spiritual senses, as well as their significance in perceiving the things of the spirit, so that we can develop our spiritual senses to a greater extent if we use them in the proper order and with each other.

In addition, we have five spiritual senses that correspond to our physical senses, which allow us to discern and perceive spiritual things. For the purpose of enhancing and expanding our spirituality, I would like to share some fundamental principles about the five spiritual senses, as well as their significance in perceiving the things of the spirit, so that we can develop our spiritual senses to a greater extent if we use them in the proper order and with each one.

Resistance or sluggishness appear, as does a false sense of humility, which appears as a sense of desire, but which is either borrowed or is a false pretense, and which demonstrates a lack of desire, of wanting, or affection for all of these things.

They do not hear what they are hearing!

When it comes to spiritual matters, whatever we come into contact with transmits something to us, which is then transferred to the recipient and received by him or her.

The message is then transferred to the recipient, where it is felt and received by him or her.

However, if the soil, or the heart, becomes hardened, it will defect, block, or suffocate the spiritual message that has been sent, just as the soil will reject the seed that has been implanted.

A softened heart is an understanding heart that is free of impurities and motivated solely by good intentions.

A spiritual representation of the neck is a passageway from the head to the body, representing the transition from higher to lower levels of consciousness, or from the interior to the exterior world.

When the heart is soft, it beats toward the Lord with humility, and as a result, it is open to receiving.

We smell, and we are grateful for the things we have received, and we perceive it to be filled with a sense of joy and delight within us.

Good corresponds to the warmth or heat of the day, which is charity, while the bad corresponds to the chill or cold of the day, which is the absence of charity.

The absence of charity, or love for the world, corresponds to the winter season, which is torpid and sluggish, with a lack of growth, and in which charity is in short supply.

However, when compared to the brightness of the spiritual man, the natural man appears to be in the dark.

We are first quickened when we hear the word of God.

Now we feel that the Word is excellent and that the Word is truthful, and the air is filled with the scent of perceptions and thanks.

We then spiritually taste it, and if it is good to the taste, we are compelled to ask for seconds or even thirds of the dish.

After all, we are at a feast, and we are worshipping our Lord, surrounded by our consociations, glad and appreciative, praising and glorifying our Lord God.

The polar side of this is having a longing or receiving immediate pleasure for either our own fleshly appetites or for the cupidities of this world, therefore gratifying our lust and gaining from it.

The eyes serve as the fifth sense.

It is a spiritual illumination and enlightenment, accompanied by a growth in affection for the spiritual things of and from God, respectively.

One learns how to think from God’s perspective, and how to sense his spirit in one’s speech and judgments.

Knowing that we have a prophet who is leading, guiding, and directing the Church of Jesus Christ is a comforting feeling.

Confusion, a fog or cloudiness of the mind, or a state of stupor of cognition are the polar opposites.

Sometimes, though, we blind ourselves to the things of God or become oblivious to the things of God.

We are deaf and blind, and we are deaf and blinded by the cunning of mankind.

We shall also have beautiful experiences with our finest gift, the gift of the Holy Ghost, tasting, swallowing, and then experiencing all of the lovely things that He brings forth.

  • And behold, when the tree begins to develop, you will say: “Let us maintain it with great care so that it may take root, grow up, and provide fruit for us.” And thus it will be.
  • Then, when the heat of the sun scorches it, the tree withers away since it has no root system, and you have to pick it up and throw it away.
  • As a result, if you do not feed the word, looking ahead with an eye of trust to the fruit of the word, you will never be able to pick from the tree of life’s fruit.
  • And see, it will become a tree springing up into eternal life.

Then, my brethren, you will reap the benefits of your faith, as well as your diligence, patience, and long-suffering as you patiently wait for the tree to bear fruit for you.

Ten Senses for the Human Experience

There are ten senses that may be employed in the human experience, five of which are physical and five of which are spiritual, according to certain accounts of the human experience. Understanding your entire sensory system gets you to the awakened state when you realize that your senses were designed by you, for you, in order to assist you in the alignment of who you truly are — both as a physical and as a spiritual being. The Expansion of the Senses

Is it possible that your senses are taking control throughout that experience? Are you even aware that your body has been programmed to be in a state of heightened consciousness? However, what about those persons who have been branded as handicapped because they are missing something in their bodily condition (such as eyesight, hearing or other sensory organs)?

Which system is beginning to take over as the dominant one in their lives?

Such experiences are well-documented, but there is no clear explanation for how these additional senses are able to be expanded.

This time around, they have a more expansive parameter to their state of being than individuals who have retained all of their bodily senses but have become restricted in their experience.

Emotional vs Physical

So, in order to keep things simple, we’ll show you the emotional side of things rather than the physical side. Just like everything else in this dimension, you have a physical embodiment as well as a Soul to contend with. Your Soul, on the other hand, is feeling. Your soul’s sensations are experienced when a sensation comes only as a result of an emotional response to what you have experienced in the past. God’s Gift of the Five Senses

There I was, opening the freezer door for the umpteenth time. As I reached for the container of strawberry ice cream, I tried to tell myself that it had been a hard day. I’ve worked hard all day and deserve a small reward at the end of the day. And yes, I am deserving of a sprinkling of chocolate chips on top of my ice cream! During the early stages of the epidemic, what had appeared to be an infrequent occurrence had become routine. I had never experienced anything like this before, and neither had any of the others.

  2. When faced with a difficult situation, it is common for people to turn to food as an impulse response.
  3. That is why, when we are feeling down, angry, or nervous, many of us turn to food as a method of alleviating our distress.
  4. In the first instance, it delivers a rapid but only brief relief from the sensations I don’t want to be experiencing.
  5. In the spiritual life, we might be tempted to search for a fast cure while we are going through a difficult moment.
  6. A healthy spiritual existence necessitates regular devotional time.

When I come home from a long day, I deserve a little indulgence. And I do deserve to have a large amount of chocolate chips sprinkled over the top of my ice cream! The World Beyond Our Senses

Our Sense of Touch

In Genesis 8:21, we read that “the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma” of the burnt offering that Noah sacrificed and was moved to promise that the ground would never be cursed again. It’s difficult to imagine God taking a deep sniff of something and saying “ahhhh” in a deeply satisfying way, but we do. Is my worship having the same effect on God as yours? Is it a pleasant scent to behold? When Paul tells the Corinthians that they are the fragrance- the aroma, the sweet scent- of Jesus in 2 Corinthians 2:15, they understand what he means.

Is it possible that I am so lavish in my love and concern for others that I leave a beautiful perfume in the air?

Our Sense of Taste

What about the narrative of Jesus coming to the disciples on the seashore after his resurrection to grill fish for them? Do you recall that story? The next morning, after spending the night fishing and catching nothing, Jesus arrives and serves them breakfast. Jesus was a fully realized human being who not only ate but also shared his bounty with others. What can I do to extend the same level of hospitality and consideration? Jesus tells his followers (and us) that we are to be “salt of the earth.” We are to be “the salt of the world.” 5:13 (Matthew 5:13).

Our lives should be a source of enjoyment for all we come into contact with.

To make following Jesus a desired flavor that everyone wants to “taste and behold,” we must make it so. What will I do today to make my life more interesting? Where am I receiving my nutrients, where am I getting my zest for life, today?

Losing Sense of Taste

Our senses provide us with a great deal of pleasure, contentment, and delight, which we take for granted at times. My sister had a sudden and full loss of her sense of taste a few years ago. Because it was so powerful, she can recall exactly what she was eating at the time as well as the time and location where it occurred. After being examined by a professional, it was determined that she had nerve damage to her sense of smell as a result of an illness. He also cautioned her that it was possible that it may never return.

  • However, because she couldn’t taste or smell anything, everything was simply a mushy, disgusting mass of chewy goo.

What does it say about the way Jesus is operating in our life if we touch others with love yet our words come across as harsh noise? I can send the fragrance of Jesus’ love to someone’s tongue, but will that fragrance be wiped out by the bitter taste I leave in their mouth? Knowing God and bearing testimony to him necessitates the use of all of our senses. He created them, and he intended for us to put them to use in the service of his will.

The use of all five senses in our praise, worship, and witnessing to others may be a powerful tool in our relationship with God!
